Toy Train Festival held in Alresford after a three-year break
These were trains that had no trouble running.
After a three-year break, crowds returned to the 28th Festival of Toys Trains in Alresford on Saturday June 18.
With nearly 30 layouts ranging from Lone-Star 000 push and go to a Gauge 1 Jubilee themed layout, and 80 sales tables, there was something for everyone.
Visitors came by car, bus and steam train (Watercress Line from Alton) and many stayed all day enjoying the various amenities, barbecue and real ale.
Smaller gauges were in the assembly room and included Trix, Tri-ang Standard with Australian red rattlers running and Tri-ang Super 4 with Thomas and Minic highway layouts, Airfix, a Hornby Dublo 3- Traditional rail and the Dublo 24′ from Chiltern/Disposition Wrenn, N Gauge in a Suitcase, Tri-ang TT and Marklin controlled by DCC, Hornby Acho and Jouef for HO fans. Lone-Star, Die-cast Trains and Brio on stage, a Lego room had multiple layouts and a mountain of bricks for visitors to enjoy.

In the gym was the Bowman Circle with live steam, a circus-themed 0 gauge layout with a host of tin props, Thomas 00 and Chad Valley 0 Gauge from Mountbatten School, HRCA Mortimer Group’s 0 Gauge, a playmobil Wild West layout with 1:24 slot cars including Marty’s Back to the future From Lorean.
The Jubilee layout, I had more soldiers than Trooping the Color and even a street party.
There were over 80 sales tables, many of which enjoyed excellent sales.
Outside you can watch LGB while enjoying a burger and ice cream.
A great day with donations from the show going to local scouts, Save The Children and Friends of King Alfred’s Buses.
