Tierra Whack teams up with LEGO for new link video

In an attempt to live in space forever, Tierra Whack and the LEGO Group team up for their lightweight ‘Link’ visual.
With the help of Philadelphia schoolchildren and director Cat Solen, Whack’s imaginative vision gets a fun boost, as they help create different inter-galactic creatures, rocket launchers, hummingbirds and castles to improve the dynamics of the video. Inspired by Whack’s playful childhood memories, âLinkâ proves to be an entertaining and exploratory watch for people of all ages. You can check it out below.
Before creating ‘Link’, Whack sat alongside children ages 6-9 to build a myriad of objects from LEGO bricks to inspire her innovative video. The children’s imaginations were unleashed as they built whatever came to their mind. Whack, serving as a blank canvas, wholeheartedly received their suggestions and helped realize their concepts to the best of his ability.
âI was so excited to work with children because their energy is fun, uplifting, endless and full of surprises,â Tierra Whack says of the creative process. âI really trusted them and knew they were going to come up with something great. What I liked most about the process was being able to partner with such an iconic company as the LEGO Group because we could do it all! ”
As part of the LEGO Rebuild the World campaign, Whack joins award-winning American artist Alexa Meade, stage and screen icon Billy Porter and architect and RIBA gold medalist Sir David Adjaye OBE in a series of films that explore the importance of creative play to show how it inspires children to express their individual creativity and develop vital skills such as self-confidence, resilience and collaboration.
“Link” is Whack’s first video since its release in October 2020 “Dora” which was produced by conceptual artist Alex De Corte. Whack doubled down and released two more albums in “feel good” and “Peppers and onions” to conclude its 2020.
After being praised for her lyrical bravery and masterful vision in 2018, the following year Grammy-nominated lyricist and rising superstar Tierra Whack returned with five new tracks in five consecutive weeks as part of her acclaimed âWhack History Monthâ. In June 2019, his stellar pun skills earned him a coveted spot as Freshman XXL. Last year, she covered Teen Vogue for their March 2020 issue.
