The LEGO Ideas toy from GameStop Classic Shop could be the mother of all submissions
In case you missed it, GameStop has had a resurgence recently. The latest fan move now involves LEGO and its Ideas program where users can submit their own builds. A LEGO builder has built a classic GameStop store, complete with bins, shelves and action figures.
The GameStop Classic store appeared on the Lego ideas page on July 6, 2021 and has since garnered nearly six thousand five hundred supporters at the time of writing. With 786 days left for fans to show their support, and given the recent positive attention GameStop has received from the mainstream, there’s a good chance that support will skyrocket.
The idea probably stems from recent attention around the video game store company. GameStop saw its stock prices rise, fall and rebound, joined the Russell 1000 Index, made a $ 1 billion secondary offering of 5 million shares, and even started its own official Discord server. For a company that seemed shabby a few months ago, the power of the actors has apparently tipped the scales.
As for the GameStop Classic store, the design features the iconic GameStop layout, with a white, red, and black logo, action figures in the front window, and the ubiquitous bald sales associate. There are also plenty of finer details, like the games on the shelves, the accessories and even the bargain bins where you would find hidden gems. There’s also a nod to the action with a LEGO minifigure scribbling a green line featuring an upward trajectory. And of course, the backdrop is that of the moon.
The LEGO Ideas design even caught the attention of GME board chairman and Chewy founder Ryan Cohen.
