SoCal attractions start early at Halloween Fun – NBC 7 San Diego
Pumpkin and spice lattes are back, leaves are changing color – on the West Coast, anyway – and sweet corn is shelled by your favorite retailers.
Is September too early for the sexy firefighter costume or the spooky timing? This frightening debate was sparked by the ever more pervasive Spirit Halloween pop-up season, when the costume retailer tackles the dead carcasses of retailers.
Aaron Brothers at Point Loma, we barely knew you. The death of Performance Bikes has hit us hard. Macy’s – MACY’S at Mission Valley Mall, for God’s sake! – is now adorned with the all-too-familiar Spirit vinyl mega-sign. In a way, Sears’ death, this one in Chula Vista, is not that surprising. After all, both shopping mall chains are well over 100 years old.
Of course, there are also stores in National City, Encinitas, and Escondido, which are slated to open in September and October.
For opening hours, you can visit the Spirit Halloween website here.

For the very first time, Howl-O-Scream is turning the once-familiar SeaWorld San Diego park into something sinister.
Starting September 17, the nocturnal guests will escape horrific creatures as they rampage through spooky areas and test fate in the House of Horrors.
Those 21 and over can quench their thirst for fear with cocktails, beer and spirits at the park’s themed bars. After having a drink you can Monster puree your way to the steam-punk themed dance club, The Underground.
Howl-O-Scream is intended for an adult audience (from 13 years old). This is a separately ticketed nightly event that is not included with regular admission to SeaWorld Park.
