“LEGO has no age”.

That’s the message from the Reading Brick Show co-founder after around 5,000 people young and old attended the third annual event over the weekend.

Brick Reading Show

Held at the Rivermead Leisure Complex on Richfield Avenue, the Brick Show featured several exciting exhibits and activities for Lego enthusiasts of all ages.

Although not exclusively filled with Lego, the room was full of great pieces from creative geniuses who came to show off their skills.

Among the best models exhibited by the creators were a three-foot zoo, a funfair complete with moving battery-powered rides and a Lego railway set.

There was plenty for youngsters to get involved with the show watching Monster Trucks race, building and racing their own mini Lego cars, developing their own Lego horizon and creating their own masterpieces. Lego work in the gallery at the end of the hall.

Three daily “Robot Wars”-style shows – named Brick Rumble – took place on Saturday March 5 and Sunday March 6 at The Brick Show, featuring automated Lego vehicles crashing in front of large audiences.

This was the third annual Reading Brick Show hosted by husband and wife team Mike and Erika Grieve.

Last year’s show was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but was back with a bang this year as Erika estimated around 5,000 people visited on both days.

She explained why Lego is so appealing to fans of all ages.

“Lego is ageless,” she said.

“It’s something anyone can do.

“You don’t really have to be very artistic, you just have to have an idea and follow it.

“And people can build whatever they like, there’s nostalgic stuff, people can do old-school Star Wars or up-to-date Minecraft and Lego Friends models.
