Netflix revises its Kids profiles with a more visual interface
Netflix has revamped its kid profiles to make it easier for kids to find their favorite shows and characters right from the home screen.
Until now, the layout of the Kids profile was not much different from that of the adult profiles. The first few rows show all the trending shows, as well as other suggested content. Now, however, kids will see a line of their most-watched shows on the home screen with popular characters from those shows appearing right above the title boxes. Netflix personalizes the favorites line for each child using their watch history, and the titles featured are from their entire catalog, not just the original lineup.

Netflix says it decided to highlight the characters to help kids recognize their favorite shows more easily. Michelle Parsons, Product Manager for Kids and Family at Netflix, said Variety:
We wanted to portray a title the way kids recognize it the most – through the characters. It will be like a child walking into his own room, where he knows where every Lego piece is.
When a child selects a title box in the favorites row, the trailer for the show or movie will start playing behind the character by default. Fortunately, however, parents can choose to turn off the AutoPlay preview feature.
Netflix’s revamped Kids profiles are now rolling out to the world’s best smart TVs. They will also be available on phones and tablets in the coming months.
