Mihailovic of Montreal challenges critics to “put their money where they want”
Still, the Jacksonville, Fla. Native, who scored his first goal with his new club on Saturday, added that predictions and power rankings were things “the record isn’t looking at.” MLSsoccer.com’s pre-season Power rankings put Montreal in 27th out of 27 pre-season clubs after an offseason that saw former head coach Thierry Henry leave for family reasons.
“We know how good we can be and it’s the confidence within the squad that will bring us success or failure,” said Mihailovic. “At the moment, the confidence is really through the roof. We can’t let it get too high because we know this is only one game in 34 and we should only focus on the next game against a really strong team. “
New FC Montreal head coach Wilfried Nancy held his head up high and said the reviews “could be good too” but added that his team needed to be tired and stay focused on their game.
“Anyone can talk about the team, what they see,” said Nancy. “For me, I stay focused on what we want to do on the pitch. We work on game concepts every day and that’s the goal.”
“The reviews are positive for us today because we won but maybe in 10 days it will be the opposite,” added Nancy.
