LEGO Ideas August 2021: Rescue Helicopter, Camera, More
August has been a pretty busy month on the LEGO Ideas front, with the launch of the eye-catching Sailboat Gift with Purchase going live ahead of our first report on the upcoming Home Alone set. But now we’re turning our attention to models that still hope to become an official set, featuring a detailed rescue helicopter, old school camera, and more.
Aérospatiale Alouette III shines a light on the best LEGO ideas for August
Headlining the best LEGO ideas for the month of August, we have the Aerospatiale Alouette III from manufacturer Mukkinn. This detailed recreation of one of the most used helicopters to date offers a display-worthy version of the iconic 1961 vehicle. Sporting a sleek red color scheme, it features an intricate cockpit, rotating rotors and pretty doors. sliding back doors which are definitely my favorite part.
Considering that the LEGO Group recently canceled their Technic Osprey for putting too much emphasis on the military, it would be quite nifty to see this rescue-focused helicopter fill the void. At least more than 2,600 other manufacturers seem to agree, as there are more than 385 days to reach the next threshold in the quest for 10,000 supporters.
Red must be contagious this month, because another build that certainly caught our eye was this classic fire truck from builder manfredt. Inspired by mid-century vehicles, the kit includes its distinct red paint coat, chrome accents, and other mounting features like a telescopic rooftop crane ladder, fire hose, and more.
With a design that perfectly resembles the official Creator Expert vehicles, this kit certainly deserves to be one of the best LEGO ideas for August. While this model sits on the lower end of support so far with over 645 contributors, we would like this one to hit the next threshold within the remaining 180 days.
Vintage Cinema Camera in the spotlight
Leaning into that old-school accent even more than the fire truck, builder Sauron the Maya assembled a fairly new recreation of a vintage movie camera. Offering that vintage design that I’m sure many of us will instantly recognize, the model is quite close to actual size and packed with detail with the dimensions allowed.
It combines with an equally vintage tripod as well as a miniature construction that represents one of the first films recorded on this type of camera, Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat Station.
These types of retro real-life items have worked pretty well for LEGO Ideas in the past. So if this project can surpass its current 1,000 supporters in the remaining 500 days, then we could very well see this one off the shelves in stores as an official kit.
Future LEGO Ideas kits to look forward to
In August, many new projects on the LEGO Ideas platform also reached the milestone of 10,000 supporters. While we’re still awaiting the verdict on July’s last LEGO Ideas Review Round, there is now a pretty impressive list of builds that garnered the required votes. Here are all the projects that were blocked for August.
As always, if you ever want to bring any of these creations highlighted in the Best LEGO Ideas for August to your own collection, be sure to head over to each of the projects pages to give your vote of support.
