Here is LEGO 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens lined up with every NINJAGO City set
The LEGO Group has revealed how 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens aligns with 70620 NINJAGO City and 70657 NINJAGO City Docks.
The previous two sets – and now long retired – were released under the LEGO NINJAGO Movie banner, while the latest addition is part of the NINJAGO Legacy lineup and ties into the long-running TV show. That doesn’t mean they are incompatible, however – whether in terms of format or aesthetics.
In fact, the three-level structure of 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens closely matches that of 70620 NINJAGO City, right down to the balcony that revolves around its middle level. So it’s strange that the official LEGO Group images didn’t place these two sets side by side, instead of having 70657 NINJAGO City Docks appear between them.
There’s a pretty straightforward explanation, though: it’s clearly the only way for them to sit side by side on your shelf, for a long, horizontal cityscape. Both 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens and 70620 NINJAGO City are “ corner buildings, ” so placing them next to each other will create a closed block, requiring you to place 70657 NINJAGO City Docks behind the ‘one of them in the shape of an “ L’ ‘.
This is fine for fans with a larger layout space, but those hoping to comfortably display all three sets on one shelf may not be completely satisfied. We won’t know exactly how easy it is to organize the three sets – or what they look like in configurations other than the official images – until we have a copy of 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens in hand. From where we are now, however, the prospect of two corner buildings doesn’t seem very flexible.
