Schuylkill Haven Free Public Library: Summer opening hours: Monday and Tuesday, 4am-8pm; Wednesday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The second Saturday of the month has LEGO League at 10:30 a.m. It’s for ages 3 to 99+ who want to be creative. Ending August 1, Robot Orbit, 4-5 p.m. for ages 12-18. The library offers Internet access and free Wi-Fi for research, job hunting, faxing, photocopying, and interlibrary loan services. etc plus over 34,000 books, magazines and audiobooks. Arts and Crafts
Summer art camps: From July 11 to August 4, Walk In Art Center, 220 Parkway, Schuylkill Haven. Especially for children in fourth and fifth and sixth to eighth grade. Camps last three hours over five days and students will experience artistic techniques and cultures from around the world. Information: 570-732-3728.
Fired ceramics: For seniors and veterans 62 and over, at the Walk In Art Center every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. Make pottery or sculptures. All supplies provided. A donation of $6 is requested to help defer the costs. Information: 570-732-3728.
Haven of Clay: Walk in Art Center, Monday and Thursday, 6 to 8:30 p.m. $40 per month or $7 per night, with a two-night minimum. Clay must be purchased through the Art Center. Information: 570-732-3728.
Knitting circle: Lorraine Felker will be teaching knitting every Tuesday at the Walk In Art Center, 6-8 p.m., at no charge, but donations are appreciated. Classes for all ages. Bring needles, yarn and other knitters. All skill levels are invited. Information: 570-732-3728.
Artists Market: Walk In Art Center, 220 Parkway, Schuylkill Haven, open 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and features the works of 19 studio artists and nearly 30 associate artists.
Outside
Canoe and kayak rental: Saturday Sunday. Jet skis available on a first come, first served basis. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The last rental is at 6 p.m. All boats must be returned by 7 p.m. Information: 570-527-2505; weekends after 11 a.m. 570-345-3537.
Take a look at the creek: Saturday, July 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Participants meet at the Waterfall Pavilion Road parking lot at Sweet Arrow Lake, Pine Grove. Appreciate aquatic creatures in a stream study of Upper Little Swatara Creek with “Porcupine Pat.” Recommended for ages 6 and up. All equipment is provided or you can bring your own. Must wear shoes that can get wet and dirty.
Car, Truck and Bike Show: Landingville Community Fire Company, Firehouse Road, Landingville, Saturday, July 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rain date July 17. $10 to register. Prize giving at 2 p.m. The first 50 receive gift bags. Food and refreshments throughout the day.
