Amazon com: Adopt a new back-to-school routine with help from Alexa
Find out how Amazon devices and services can help your family prepare for the back-to-school chaos and easily beat school mornings.
Returning to school is an exciting time for students, especially after more than a year of adjusting between home study and in-person, or a combination of the two. But your family might feel a little overwhelmed at the thought of resuming a daily routine. Fortunately, there are some simple things you can do to help your team have positive and productive school days, whether school is at home or in the classroom.
A new study conducted by OnePoll and commissioned by Amazon found that nearly two in three families (63%) lost sense of morning routine during the pandemic. However, more than a third of all parents (33%) agree that technology can be a useful tool for morning routines.
“Introducing small changes and useful tools, such as technology, into morning routines will help families start the school year strong and stay on track for the months to come,” said Kunal Patel, Product Manager for Alexa Proactive and Routines. ”
Amazon devices and other tech tools in your home can ease the transition to the classroom and help your family start the day on the right foot. Consider these tips and tricks for using Amazon, Amazon Kids +, and Alexa devices to help your family create an A + routine.
Customize a morning routine
Personalize a morning routine for your kids with a Alexa routine. Routines are shortcuts that group Alexa actions together so you don’t have to request them individually. For example, children may choose to be awakened by their disney characterto Echo Dot Kids Edition, slowly turn on the lights with Philips Hue smart bulbs, and remember that it’s time to brush your teeth.
The routines are useful for the whole family. Parents can choose a featured routine out of the box, such as the “Start My Day Routine”. Alexa will keep you posted on weather and traffic (perfect for back-to-school carpooling), then keep you up to date with your day’s activities.
Use reminders so you never miss a beat
Having trouble remembering everything during the start of the school year? Alexa reminderscan help you stay focused and remind you of all your important events, deadlines, appointments, etc. Just tell your device what to remember and you’ll get a reminder to help you stay organized.
For example, you could say:
“Alexa, remind me to pick up the children from school every day of the week at 3 pm”
“Alexa, remind Josh he works out every Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm”
“Alexa, remind me to check out Annie’s virtual schooling at 11 a.m.”
Make memorable announcements
Get the whole family out (or out of bed) with an Alexa announcement with sound effects. With multiple Echo devices in the house, you can announce that it’s time for your kids to go to school or sit at their virtual desk, just like a modern intercom.
You can also use the Alexa app to make announcements on the go and add fun sound effects, like a kiss or the dinner bell. Just imagine “It’s time to learn!” »Announced quickly at 8 am, followed by your favorite sound effect to get your kids’ attention.
Learn beyond the school day
Learn new skills, play educational games, or take a break from studying by saying, “Alexa, help me with school”. You can also access tons of educational content from National Geographic, Rabbids Coding, LEGO, and more. Content is available through Amazon Kids + with the Fire HD 10 Kids Tablet(for 3-7 years) or Fire HD 10 Kids Pro tablet(for 6-12 years old). The tablets have a Learn First feature that allows parents to block access to games and cartoons until educational goals are met.
Remember to practice reading before bed
Set a reminder to practice reading before bedtime to introduce good summer reading habits into the school year. Reading Companionis a feature that helps kids become confident readers by allowing them to take turns reading with Alexa on Echo Dot Kids Edition or another Echo device enabled with Amazon Kids (requires Amazon Kids + subscription).
Set up privacy for children’s devices
Alexa and Echo devices offer several ways to manage privacy, from microphone controls to the ability to view and delete your voice recordings, so parents can stay in control. Once Amazon Kids is activated, Alexa will give child-friendly responses, filter songs with explicit lyrics, and give you access to the Amazon Parent dashboard. The dashboard provides easy-to-use parental controls that allow you to review your children’s activity and set time limits at no additional cost.
