All aboard for the day on the Ashland train
ASHLAND, Va. (WRIC) – Ashland will celebrate its rail heritage this weekend with the 17th annual Ashland Train Day. 10,000 people are expected to come see the trains and have fun at the free, family-friendly event in the heart of Ashland.
Here are some of the things you can do on Saturdays:
RAILWAY HISTORY & KNOWLEDGE: Two museums, three storytellers and a 12-step scavenger hunt bring Virginia’s railroad history to life.
LOCOMOTIVES: Over 18 fully loaded CSX freight trains and Amtrak passenger trains will pass through the event center.
TRAIN MODELS: On display train models of all sizes and scales, including lego and race trains. Plus vintage railway equipment and a red caboose!
TOUCH-A-TRUCK: Gears of all ages will be surprised by the display of heavy equipment, fire trucks and ambulances, dump trucks and tractors.
KID ZONE: A world of fun with a bouncy house, obstacle course and games.
LIVE MUSIC STAGE: Bluegrass, country and vintage musicians take center stage.
CHILDREN’S TRAIN RIDE: Two children’s trains invite families to visit the festivities. All aboard!
