Advantages and disadvantages of Skeld, MIRA-HQ and Polus
Among Us has three unique cards that force players to think differently. Here are the pros and cons of The Skeld, MIRA-HQ, and Polus.
Much of the game Among us has a good understanding of each board, including its tasks, location names, and fan connections. With only three cards, it’s not difficult for players to start memorizing each one as well as the patterns of other players in their movement. Despite Among us Having simple basic mechanics, the gameplay can vary greatly depending on the map chosen as each has a very different layout.
Among us Released in 2018 with just one map to play on, The Skeld and Inner Sloth have since added Polus and MIRA HQ. After his huge spike in popularity in 2020, Inner Sloth has promised a long-awaited fourth Among us card called Airship. While players have been waiting for this new map for over six months, they have become familiar with Among us’ three existing cards. It doesn’t take long to walk through the public halls or watch Among us live to say that The Skeld is by far the most popular card in the game, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect.

Each of Among us’ maps has its advantages and disadvantages. One can be much taller than the other or have too many tasks in one area. Others may distribute players too little to keep track of everyone, and those without cameras make it more difficult to keep tabs on suspicious players. This article will break down each Among us card and its advantages and disadvantages.
Among us Maps: The Skeld
Being Skeld Among us’ the most popular card is a plus and a minus, and the same can be said for its size. Being played so frequently makes it easier for players to familiarize themselves with the map. However, it also means new players are at a disadvantage. If a player doesn’t know the name of their last task or the last room they were in, it will automatically make them more suspicious. Those playing on The Skeld had better update quickly or they could be the next voted teammate. This is especially true for new impostors, as they have to lie about where they are in order to win.
The Skeld is also Among us’ the smaller map, making it easier for players to stay together. There are no rooms out of the way where the impostor can hide bodies, and it’s a short walk to prevent the reactor from melting or the oxygen running out. However, this makes it much harder for the impostor to get away with a murder. Its size makes it the simplest Among us map to learn, making it harder for inexperienced players to compete with Skeld’s veterans. But after a few rounds on The Skeld, players will start to catch the most important legends that just might save their lives.
Cards Among Us: MIRA-HQ
MIRA-HQ is likely Among us’ the least popular card, and for good reason. It is not the largest map in the game, but it is the most extensive and can be confusing at times. MIRA-HQ has a lot of dead ends that force players to go back to get to their next task, and the central locations on the map are all detached from each other. There are also some stains tucked away in the far corners of the map, making the impostor’s kills easily go unnoticed. Its spread out tasks and long hallways make it more difficult to monitor players, and the lack of cameras doesn’t help either.
However, MIRA-HQ is the funniest card Among us Impostors. Its vents allow the Impostor to bounce across the map, and its confusing dead ends make it a perfect map for trapping innocent teammates. Because the reactor and the oxygen tanks are so far apart, every time a sabotage is done it feels like a race against time. It can create some intense and exciting moments, but the confusing layout of the map can sometimes make sabotages more frustrating than exciting. MIRA-HQ is ideal for Among us teammates who like challenges and even better for impostors who want to embark on a murderous frenzy.
Cards Among Us: Polus
Polus is a very well-designed map that balances its large explorable area with a large number of distributed tasks and a lot of surveillance. Polus is Among us‘biggest map to date, making it one of the hardest to learn. There are a lot of tasks scattered around Polus and players will need to learn how to communicate effectively with their teammates. Although the map is large in size, the cameras make it easier for players to keep an eye on important lanes. Additionally, the vitals station lets players know when another crew member has been killed, and there are plenty of windows players can go to to secretly spy on nearby players.
Polus is a very competitive Among us card due to its design. Its various windows prevent imposters from killing their teammates, but this is thwarted by the map’s well-placed vents. There are also various choke points that imposters can use to kill players where no one can see them. There are a few out-of-the-way tasks that few players will visit where impostors can hide bodies, but they’re not as out of reach as MIRA-HQ’s. Because it’s not played as much as The Skeld, players may have a hard time maintaining their knowledge of Polus, but it’s still the best designed. Among us card so far.
That being said, none of the Among usâThe cards are bad. Each forces players to play differently, adding more variety to the game. If players want a relaxed and more familiar experience, they should play on The Skeld. If teammates want to feel like they’re fighting for their lives, they should play on MIRA-HQ. And if gamers like more competitive gameplay and a wider variety of tasks, Polus should be their card of choice. If players start to get bored with Among us, all they have to do is change the map they are playing on for a drastic gameplay change.
