Brisbane Festival 2021
Our favorite art festival is set to take over the city this month. The Brisbane Festival is coming in full swing with merchandise – a bunch of great shows, musical treats, and experiential exhibits to let your creativity run wild. A pretty spectacular end to the Brisbane festival, not to be missed Sunsuper Riverfire this year. It lights up the sky on Saturday September 25 with a super awesome show from Foti Fireworks. You will also enjoy a powerful smoking ceremony by Yuggera and Turrbal Man, Shannon Ruska, as well as displays of army helicopters, aerobatics and more. Okay, it’s not all about the arts. Here too we have something for you sports fans. In what is shaping up to be a pretty epic stalemate, with the Wallabies, All Blacks, Los Pumas and Springboks, reigning world champions, battle it out for the eToro Rugby Championship trophy. The The Wallabies against South Africa and the All Blacks against Argentina will enter the field on Saturday, September 18 for a highly anticipated showdown.
Trent Dalton’s Swallow Universe
Fans of the novel Local author Trent Dalton’s Boy Swallows Universe won’t want to miss this touching theatrical adaptation of the story. Expect to feel all the thrills as you join 13-year-old Eli Bell on a journey of discovery, grief and resilience. From Wednesday, September 1 through Sunday, October 3, send this stellar performance to the top of your to-see list this month.
Reopening of the Princess Theater
After undergoing a careful and thoughtful restoration, the 133-year-old Princess Theater will reopen to the public in October. As well as being a thing of beauty (we’re looking at you, architectural demons), the theater is now home to four bars, a cafe, private reception rooms, workshop spaces, and a lush courtyard. The initial housewarming is scheduled for early October, so collect your tickets here.
Brickman® Wonders of the World
Calling all big kids, we’ve found the perfect weekend activity for you. Brickman® Wonders of the World is open until Monday, October 4 at the Queensland Museum. Expect some pretty impressive displays of this tiny little brick, created by LEGO Masters Australia judge Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught. We are talking about worldly creations like the Great Wall of China to the Tokyo subway map and the Titanic. We will meet over there.
City in the Sun at the Brisbane Museum
Immerse yourself in the subtropical themes of Brisbane with this bright, immersive and joyful exhibition. City In The Sun explores all things vibrant, fun and summery. You will be greeted with brand new works from a large number of artists asking you to enjoy and reflect on Brisbane’s culture and heritage. It is sure to put a smile on your face.
Country Music Weekend 2021
Take your blue denim and put on your cowboy boots, Country Music Weekend is back and brings all the line dancing you want. Expect a mecca of countryside-themed activities like bull rides, whipping, food trucks, and outback fashion. Descending on Friday September 10 and Saturday September 11, head to the Brisbane Racing Club for the most epic day of racing yet.
Tastes of Moreton Bay
This one is for all foodies. Tastes of Moreton Bay is open until Sunday October 10 and we promise you won’t want to miss it. Head north to the CBD and take your taste buds on a tasty getaway, from devouring local produce to mouth-watering tours, events, wine tastings and masterclasses.
